Core Scientific Welcomes Rob Hepler as Head of Data Center Operations
Strategic Hire: Core Scientific welcomes Rob Hepler as head of data center operations, strengthening our position as a leader in high-performance computing (HPC) hosting. Rob will spearhead operational excellence across our growing portfolio of HPC data centers.
Industry Expertise: Rob brings more than 25 years of experience in enterprise colocation data center operations. Previously, he served as senior director of operations at Equinix, overseeing their Ashburn, Virginia, operations and additional data centers across the east region.
Future Growth: This key hire reflects Core Scientific’s rapid expansion, with 500 megawatts of HPC data centers currently under construction. Rob will oversee all operational teams across our HPC data centers—managers, technicians, logistics personnel, and office staff—ensuring the GPUs housed achieve maximum performance and efficiency while meeting the needs of AI and enterprise HPC customers.
In a pivotal move to bolster operational excellence and strengthen our data center leadership in high-performance computing (HPC), Core Scientific has appointed Rob Hepler as head of data center operations. With more than 25 years of expertise in enterprise colocation and a proven track record of leading large-scale data center projects, Rob will play a critical role in shaping Core Scientific’s future.
Rob’s extensive experience includes serving as senior director of operations at Equinix, where he managed operations for their Ashburn, Virginia, colocation data center and facilities across the east region. He successfully led initiatives in data center design and construction, capacity management, real estate, and site engineering. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in management information systems and business from Liberty University and a certified data center professional certification from Marist College, Rob is well-equipped to lead Core Scientific’s operations.
As Core Scientific expands its facilities at a rapid pace, Rob’s leadership will drive peak efficiency across our HPC data centers, delivering unmatched infrastructure solutions for high-performance computing.
